Inauguration of the FIAP Exhibition Center in Torrijos
On June 1, 2024, the FIAP Exhibition Center in Torrijos (Toledo) was inaugurated. With this center, Spain becomes the country with the largest number of Exhibition Centers in the world, totaling six.
The inauguration in Torrijos was attended by:
• Mr. Riccardo Busi - President of FIAP.
• Mr. Joan Burgues - Vice President of FIAP.
• Mr. Ioannis Lykourys - Secretary of FIAP.
• Mr. Herbert Gmeiner - Treasurer of FIAP.
• Mr. Michele Macinai - Director of the FIAP World Cup.
In addition to the government councilors and the municipal corporation, the event was also attended by:
• Ms. Montse González - President of the Spanish Confederation of Photography
• Mr. Jesús Manuel García Flores – FIAP Liaison Officer in Spain – FIAP Exhibition Center of Torrijos President. Castilla la Mancha Photographic Federation President.
• Mr. Javier Bravo - President of AFOTO.
• Mr. Josep María Casanovas - President of the Exhibition Center of Reus (Barcelona).
• Mr. Luis José Vigil-Escalera - President of the Exhibition Center of Langreo(Asturias).
• Mr. Juan Abelludo - President of the Andalusian Federation of Photography.
The inauguration of the FIAP Exhibition Center took place in the Palace of D. Pedro I in Torrijos (Toledo).
For this inauguration, the following photographic collections were selected:
• "The Milky Way." This collection won the Gold Medal at the France Biennial in 2021 and proclaimed Spain as the World Runner-up.
• "Volcano Danger and Beauty." This collection won the Bronze Medal at the recent Greece Biennial in 2023.
Ms. Montse González, President of the Spanish Confederation of Photography and Deputy Director of the FIAP Exhibition Center in Torrijos, opened the ceremony.
On the inauguration of the FIAP Exhibition Center, a commemorative plaque was presented to Mr. Riccardo Busi.
In this emotional event, Mr. Jesús Manuel García Flores, FIAP Liaison Officer in Spain, was awarded the ESFIAP distinction.
The ceremony was concluded by Mr. Andrés Martín Ramos, Mayor of the Town of Torrijos. After the ceremony, all attendees enjoyed a cocktail, courtesy of the Torrijos City Council, where the main topic of conversation was photography.
That same day, the "18th FIAP World Cup for Clubs 2023" ceremony was also held in Torrijos.
Mr. Riccardo Busi and Mr. Michele Macinai were the masters of ceremony. Mr. Macinai, as Director of the FIAP World Cup, overseeing the announcement of the winners.
Attendees enjoyed a two-day guided tour at Torrijos city and Toledo city, including visits to museums, art galleries, and panoramic tours of Toledo and Consuegra (the land of windmills).
Thank to Riccard Busi as president of FIAP and the rest of the FIAP board of directors for joining us in the inauguration of this Exposition center. This is the first time that part of the FIAP's board visits Torrijos (Toledo) Spain and this act will be recorded in the historical photographic memory of the city.
