My first Camera Club introduced me to the world of ‘competitive photography’ and I have not looked back since. After several years of increasing my skills and my knowledge, I embarked on the journey of ‘Distinctions’ and competing in National and International Exhibitions. 12 years later, and I am proud to be able to give something back, in my role as an assessor on Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) Distinction Assessments, and also as a judge in National and International Salons. 7 years ago, I founded Catchlight Camera Club in Belfast, with the aim of making it a club capable of competing at the highest level of UK and Irish club photography. The Club has competed at the top level in both UK and Ireland for several years now, culminating in my finest moment when Catchlight Camera Club won the FIAP World Cup in 2017. It never ceases to amaze me, that we all have so much more to learn, no matter what level we are at. This great hobby of ours has been a great source of joy, and of friendships far and wide – long may it continue!
